Component I
Improved animal health regulatory framework at the policy level and effective application of that framework.
The following activities are planned under the Component 1:
- Establish a National working group from the Ministry of Agriculture representatives to review the existing SOPs, templates, regulations and guidelines;
- Develop a Roadmap (Master Plan) on the establishment, expansion and sustainable operation of FVSCs;
- Establish an Armenian Livestock Breeders Association to unite all the breeders under one umbrella;
- Establish an Armenian Veterinary Association to serve as a platform for discussing and solving common issues;
- Organize trainings for Association members.
Component II
Improved practices and capacities of farmers and veterinarians through the development of FVSCs to better provide veterinary services and control animal diseases.
The following activities are planned under the Component 2:
- To extend the frames of the project to Ajaria region of Georgia and partner with the Agroservice Center functioning in Ajaria;
- Organize trainings on Animal Health for veterinarians and farmers in Armenia and Georgia;
- Increase the level of competence of FVSCs management and staff;
- Train university faculty/students regarding the animal health;
- Provide internship opportunities for the students.
Component III
Improved/proper animal breeding practices contribute to animal genetics and farm income.
The following activities are planned under the Component 3:
- Establish a Pig Genetic Center in Armenia;
- Organize training sessions on the proper animal breeding for veterinarians and farmers in Armenia and Georgia;
- Ensure the technical and financial sustainability of demo projects on animal breeding and animal health issues in Armenia and Georgia;
- Organize events promoting experience and knowledge exchange between Armenian, Georgian and Austrian agencies, NGOs, advanced veterinarians and farmers on best practices of Animal Health and Animal Breeding.
